Morning: Explore the Old Town

Start your day with a visit to Dubrovnik's Old Town, the heart of the city. Wander through the famous Stradun, the main street lined with beautiful limestone buildings, cafes, and boutiques.

Stop by Onofrio’s Fountain, a historic water source, and then make your way to Sponza Palace, a remarkable example of Renaissance architecture.

A must-do activity is walking the City Walls, which offer panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the terracotta rooftops below. The walls, which stretch for nearly 2 kilometers, provide insight into Dubrovnik's rich history and are perfect for a leisurely morning stroll. The ticket costs 40 euros (get them on the spot). You'll need about 1.5-2 hours for this and it's best to do this early to avoid crowds.

For lunch, head to one of the local restaurants where you can taste traditional Dalmatian cuisine. Try dishes like grilled fish, black risotto made with cuttlefish ink, octopus salad, tuna steak or delicacies such as prosciutto and cheese etc. Pair your meal with a glass of local Plavac Mali wine, a red wine indigenous to the region.

👍 Consider buying the Dubrovnik Pass which includes a free visit to the City walls, museums and galleries, free bus rides and many discounts at souvenir stores and tour agencies.

Afternoon: Relax and discover hidden gems

After lunch, take a short trip to Banje Beach, just outside the Old Town. Relax on the pebbly shore, swim in the crystal-clear water, or take part in water sports like sea kayaking (along the City walls) or jet-skiing. If you prefer a quieter experience, head to the nearby Lokrum Island, a lush nature reserve just a 15-minute boat ride away, perfect for a peaceful walk through olive groves and botanical gardens.

For a bit of culture, visit Rector’s Palace, where you can learn about the city’s governance during the Renaissance. The Dubrovnik Cathedral and its Treasury are also worth a stop, showcasing religious art and relics from centuries past.
