Food tour review: We had a great evening with Luca. He provided both a tour of the city as well as introduced us to the foods the region is famous for. His choices were spot on and our entire family (including 2 teenage sons) had a great time. We had been traveling in Italy for a week and this was for sure the most authentic and “local” food and dining we had our entire trip. Highly recommend! Luca was also super helpful setting up a tour for the next day to Modena and surrounding areas.

FOOD TOUR REVIEW: Benedetta was great and we really enjoyed the experience! We've been on several food tours, in various cities and always enjoy them. This was the first where the food was NOT included. I had looked at several before reserving, and, was surprised to hear that when we arrived. BUT, I think it was for the best, and I think in the future, I will look for those tours. You don't always want to try all of the samples offered, and I'd rather purchase those I actually want. Benedetta clarified all this before we began, which we really appreciated. And I think she's right - this is a better way to go. We spent far less overall than if we had got the "all inclusive" tour. Highly recommend the tour with Benedetta. She was very flexible and full of info.

Is taking a food tour in Bologna worth it?
Absolutely! If you’re a food enthusiast, a food tour in Bologna is an excellent choice. Bologna, known as Italy’s food capital, offers a gastronomic experience like no other. These tours immerse you in Bologna’s authentic cuisine, making them well worth your time and money!
What kind of food tours does Bologna offer?
There are quite a few different food tours in Bologna, including those that visit the historic centre and others that travel outside the city to the farms and factories, where typical foods are produced (Parmigiano Reggiano, Balsamic Vinegar, Prosciutto). The latter are mostly day trips with pick up from the centre of Florence.
What is the best timing for the food tour in Bologna?
Consider scheduling a food tour early in your trip. This allows you to revisit favourite eateries and restaurants and enjoy recommendations from your guide during the rest of your stay.
Decide also whether you prefer a morning, afternoon, or evening tour. Morning tours are great to start your day full, while evening tours provide a dinner-like experience.
If taking the tour in the morning, you'll have free the rest of the day to sightsee other Bologna sights. If you opt for evening tour, you can leisurely sightsee in the morning (and have a slow breakfast).
Do the tours accommodate vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free diets?
While most food tours that take place in Bologna are vegetarian friendly, there aren't much vegan options to make it worth the money. Unfortunately, most tours can't accommodate gluten-free visitors. There are a lot of wine on tours, so if you are non-alcohol drinker, you should also consider this.
